Congratulations to Ashley Mansell

Ashley Mansell delivered a gutsy final-round performance under cloudy skies at Bowood to clinch the English PGA Championship, edging out the chasing pack by a single shot in a tense finale.

The Clevedon Golf Club professional started the round with the same slender lead he finished with, but wasted no time extending it early in round three, firing four birdies on the front nine to take control of the leaderboard.

Reflecting on the victory, Ashley said:

“It feels awesome. Considering it’s a national event – and to win a national event is something I’ve not done yet – to do that now is great.

“Across the week I feel I played great. All three rounds I played probably some of the best golf of the year, which I wasn’t expecting. The course has been stunning and that definitely helps.”

English PGA Championships ’25

The English PGA Championship was restored to the PGA tournament schedule for 2018 following an eight-year hiatus.

The inaugural event was staged at Goodwood in 2010 when Ben St John won the 54-hole tournament with a four-under-par score of 209.

The 2019 tournament went to Bowood Hotel Golf & Spa where Paul Hendriksen kept a cool head in sweltering conditions to win the title.

The English PGA Championship promises to provide one of the strongest fields of the season with exemptions for the 2024 Great Britain & Ireland PGA Cup team and all past Great Britain & Ireland Ryder Cup players.

Places have also been made available for the last five PGA Professional Championship winners.

The top 15 players from each of the seven PGA Regional Orders of Merit have also been given exemptions.

All other places will be determined by seven regional qualifiers.
